VPK expands corewinding activities in the UK

VPK Packaging Group has purchased a corewinding company in the UK in order to strengthen and expand its existing business.
This acquisition fits perfectly with the group’s strategy of offering creative responses to its customer’s packaging requirements in an effective, flexible and competitive manner.
VPK Packaging Group became the owner of the assets of Deva Cores Limited in the UK.
Deva Cores produces approximately 5.000 T of high quality tubes and cores in Mold, close to Manchester.
Deva Core’s turnover for 2004 is estimated at 4,5 Mio € and it currently employs 24 people.

This new step continues the expansion of VPK’s core division. Six plants have today a combined capacity of 60.000 T of cores and realize a turnover of 45 Mio €. From these production units the major markets in Europe, being the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, France and the Benelux are being supplied. Our tubewinding division disposes of a reseach and development team, centralized in Belgium which develops successfully new applications and new quality products.

Oudegem Papier, which is also part of VPK Packaging Group has been developing its core board production on a dedicated papermachine with a yearly capacity of 70.000 T. The combination of a highly performant board machine with these 6 converting units contributes to a strong position. Besides the stability that this integration offers, this brings new opportunities in the development of new products.

VPK Packaging Group also operates two paper plants, nine corrugated board plants and 1 solid board plant in the Benelux, France and the UK.
The current packaging divisions in the group have a combined paper consumption of 400,000 tonnes a year and record a group turnover of 400 million euro. VPK Packaging Group employs over 2,400 people in six countries.
VPK Packaging Group is listed on Euronext Brussels.
