SOLID BOARD

Twenty years after starting operations in Oudegem (BE), VPK Packaging NV markets its products under the European registered brand name Smart Packaging Solutions® (SPS), since 1 January 2010.

Smart Packaging Solutions® has an important place within the specialties segment as it complements the product range of VPK Packaging Group NV.

COMPETITIVE POSITION

In dialogue with our customers we produce the solid board packaging which best meets their specific needs.

Solid board is recommended for use in moist conditions, such as packaging for poultry, meat, vegetables, foods in general and flowers. It owes its damp resistance to the production process in which three or four layers of paper are stuck together to make them waterproof. Where desired, the moisture resistance can be increased further by additionally treating one or more layers. The high print quality, with up to 6 colours, greatly enhances the communicative properties of the packaging.

Thanks to our own design agency, Smart Packaging Solutions® can respond quickly and efficiently to the everchanging needs of a rapidly evolving market. Moreover, our vertical integration guarantees a large degree of independence from the raw materials market, which translates into highly dependable delivery.

The machinery in Meer is capable of producing packaging with a higher quality of printing (namely offset) than the machines at Dendermonde. This makes the Meer branch highly complementary to the Dendermonde site.
The sales volume grew to 75,000 tons in 2010, resulting in Smart Packaging Solutions® being 2nd in its sector in Western Europe.
