Optimised packing of pallets leads to a lower environmental footprint
PBES manufactures battery packs for ships. They dispatch approximately 1,500 battery packs each year. These used to be packed and strapped in place using fibre board and lumber on euro pallets. After discussions with Peterson, a new packaging solution was developed. By using corrugated cardboard in an innovative design, twice as many batteries can be packed onto a pallet, which can now be stacked two-high. The ability to stack battery modules on pallets provides a higher density of goods, lower costs and reduces the environmental impact of transport by about half.
