Polish packaging division greatly expanded by summer 2018

A 40% capacity expansion is planned just three years after the start of the Polish packaging division. The Radomsko production site, located between Lodz and Krakow, will get an extra hall after the summer. The current machine park will be supplemented with additional machines, good for 30 million m² of corrugated cardboard packaging, and 15 additional employees.

Rapid growth through international customers

In 2015, VPK expanded the existing site for unprocessed, corrugated cardboard sheets in Radomsko with a department for finished products: die-cut, printed and glued corrugated cardboard packaging. Total capacity today? 80 million m². The focus is on the delivery to Polish branches of European customers served by the Blue Box Partners network.

The Polish market’s growth brought the site to its maximum capacity in a short time. That’s why VPK is now starting up the construction of an extra hall, good for almost 10,000 m² of extra space. A Bobst Mastercut, a Tanabe folding machine and an extra strapping and wrapping line increase the total capacity of corrugated cardboard packaging by 30 million m². The Göpfert die-cutting machine will also receive a sixth colour unit to achieve high-quality printing in one quick production step.

The new hall and processing machines are expected to be up and running by the middle of the year. The number of employees will also increase from 200 to 215 over the course of the year. VPK Packaging Group will invest 10 million euros in the entire expansion project.
